St. Joseph The Worker Awards 2024
October 14, 2024
The 2024 St. Joseph the Worker Dinner at Malvern Retreat House was an evening filled with faith, inspiration, and celebration, as we gathered to honor three extraordinary individuals who have made a profound impact in our community. On October 12th, friends, family, and supporters of Malvern Retreat House came together to recognize their outstanding contributions to the Church and society.
This year’s honorees were:
Fr. Stephen DeLacy: A devoted priest and leader, Fr. DeLacy has tirelessly worked to inspire young Catholics and foster vocations within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Fr. DeLacy currently serves as the Vicar for the Office of Faith Formation of Youth and Young Adults. His dedication to forming missionary disciples is a true gift to our Church.
Gloria Coyne: Gloria’s commitment to the Pro-Life movement is well-known throughout Philadelphia, where she has served as a leader in the Pro-Life Union. Beyond this, Gloria is also a guiding force within the Charismatic Catholic community, where her leadership has brought many into a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. Her tireless work to defend the dignity of life and to lead others in prayer and spiritual renewal is a testament to her unwavering faith.
Jason Cannon: As a successful businessman and deeply committed Catholic, Jason Cannon has merged his professional expertise with his faith in transformative ways. In addition to his leadership with the Catholic Social Services and the Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia, Jason played a key role in producing the powerful new film Cabrini, which tells the story of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini’s mission to serve immigrants and the poor. His ability to bring the Catholic faith to life through media and business is a true reflection of his dedication to evangelization.
The evening began with Mass celebrated in Our Lady’s Chapel. Bishop Efren Esmilla presided over Mass and joined us for dinner. The night was filled with gratitude and heartfelt reflection as each honoree shared their stories and spoke about the importance of faith in their lives. The dinner also served as a reminder of the vital role Malvern Retreat House plays in offering a space for spiritual renewal, transformation, and growth for all who visit.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event and helped support the continued mission of Malvern Retreat House. Together, we are building a stronger, faith-filled community and continuing the work of St. Joseph, the humble worker.
